This is my veion of the Rebel Fleet Trooper's helmet from Star Wa. Honestly, for the amount of trouble I went through to model and print this, it'd probably be easier just buy one of those vacuum-formed ones easily available online... but that's not how we do things here!
I have uploaded STLs of the uncut files and a zipped folder of cut sectio that I used to print. If you want to cut it apart on your own, ignore the zipped folder and print the rest of the files. If you want pre-cut (but not arranged) parts, only take the zipped folder and print everything iide.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE .STL FILES MAY BE SHRUNK 10X! If they look tiny to you, please scale them up 10X! Yes, the Talker helmet is supposed to be very wide (it was designed to accommodate bulky headsets).
The only things you'll need to source youelf is a wire antenna and the chitrap. Just get a piece of wire ~2-3 mm in diameter and shove it into the hole in the comm box. Use 1" wide black elastic webbing for the chitrap and secure however you like iide the helmet. I am using car-washing sponge as interior cushioning, but a proper helmet liner would be nice.
My biggest pet peeve about the OG RFT helmets is that their helmet "visor" physically cannot flip down to cover their eyes like the Honor Guard veion has thei. If you dig a little bit, you'll find this is because the "visor" is actually just the front section of another helmet cut off and glued on. The shape of the helmet isn't symmetrical, so it can't actually rotate without inteecting the front of the helmet. In addition, the Honor Guards' helmets actually have the visor flipped upside-down and glued on to make their helmet!
So I wanted to make a RFT helmet that has a "working" visor. Really, it ends up more like a blast shield, but whatever. Anyways, my veion includes a visor that can rotate from the top position to a down position. I had to compromise - neither position looks totally like a RFT or a Honor Guard, but I also feel this is a bit more "realistic" (if such a thing is possible in Star Wa).
Note that although I based my helmet on the shape and dimeio of a Navy Talker Helmet from what I could find online, the shape is not actually very correct. There are some things that I just got tired of trying to fix, so if you're looking for a printable Talker helmet, I'm very sorry - you'll have to look elsewhere.
Please do not use these files to sell or make replicas. There are plenty of people out there who do fine jobs on very accurate vac-formed helmet replicas. I simply wanted to add my own spin on it. I also do not own one of those helmets, so dimeio on the swoop may be off. Soz.
Please post your makes! I would love to see them! And thanks for reading to the end.
:)
